If you are starting out and just getting your used car dealer license. It can be hard to find a location. There are specific zoning requirements you have to adhere to by the state and it has to be under compliance with the DMV. A lot of people don’t want to go straight in and sign a lease for a big lot because they don’t know what they are doing yet and it’s really risky. You start having to pay a lot of overhead without knowing much about the business. I recommend you start as small as possible and then move up to a bigger location if need be.
Finding another dealer with two offices willing to split up his lot is a fast low risk alternative in getting your feet wet in the used car business which will save you a lot of time an money. Watch my video and it will give you a perfect example on how you can take over one of the offices and start your own dealership. Then, you and the other used car dealer can divide up the lot space as you see fit.
